142. A deep scar

 A shield around my heart,

Hard and strong from the start.
Kept me out from hurt and pain,
Kept me safe through every strain.

With time, the experiences grew,
Shield turned weak with cracks as new.
What once shielded, now can't hold,
As pains and words hit through so bold.

The arrows are so sting,
With scars they leave always cling.
My fences broke, it's too much,
With their harsh and sore touch.

As the shield turns thin,
I'm finding strength within.
The world may leave its scar,
But, I rise, no matter how far.
